School involvement matters!  There is a great deal of research that demonstrates that children whose parents are involved with their school do better in school.  Becoming a school volunteer is a great way to become involved!

There are many volunteer opportunities at Adams - many of which do not require a significant investment of time or require that you are present during the school day. Volunteers are not only greatly appreciated, they are essential part of what makes Adams a great school!

    Immediate Needs

Do you love the amazing arts performances of our Adams students?  Come join the production team as the Stage Manager!  Our current Stage Managers are "graduating" and we need someone like YOU!

    • Assist Mr. Harter and Ms. Orr with Grade Level and Choir/Instrumental Music Assemblies/Performances (approximately 11 days over the course of the year)
    • Recruit volunteers using Sign-Up Genius
    • Coordinate set-up and tear down of seating and/or choir risers for both student assemblies (2:45pm) and evening performances (6:30pm).
    • Occasionally assist with sound, lights and curtain during the shows.

Our last Stage Managers were a husband/wife team.  Feel free to volunteer as a family!  We have need for a substitute Stage Manager for the Kindergarten, 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade and choir/instrumental performances this year.  Why not try it out to see if it is a good fit!  Please contact Heidi or Julie at if you are interested or have any questions.

Auction Chair/Co-chairs Needed for Next Year

The Adams PTA is seeking a chair or co-chairs for next year's (2019) auction. Our current Auction Committee co-chairs are stepping down after three years of planning and running the auction. If you are interested in chairing next year, NOW is the time to shadow them and learn how they organize and facilitate such a successful event. For more information, please contact the Auction Committee at to talk to Tracy and Shana for more information.

    Ready to Volunteer?

Take the volunteer survey first. Based on the interests you identify, the PTA Volunteer Coordinator will contact you to offer you positions that match your interests.

If your volunteer activities take place in the classroom, on a field trip, or require direct contact with children, please complete the following:

    1. Complete the Seattle Public Schools Volunteer Application. The application is available in multiple languages.
    2. Complete the Adult Sexual Misconduct Prevention online course.
    3. Turn in your completed application in the school office.  Bring a Washington State photo ID so that we can complete your background check.
    4. Read the volunteer handbook.  The handbook is also available in hard copy at the school office.

You can access the forms and training on the Volunteer page of the Seattle Public Schools Website.

Please note that your application must be approved before you can begin volunteering. It takes 3-5 days to process completed volunteer applications.
